Last week I visited the Dolores Huerta School in downtown Los Angeles to talk to the Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes about the importance of learning foreign languages. Nearly all the children there are Hispanic and are already bilingual! Their faces lit up when I explained to them that being bilingual means that they speak two languages. For them it has been a natural experience to learn Spanish and English, as it is for any young child learning an additional language. They were all very curious about different countries and other languages, which comes from being bilingual and worldly. Keep up the great work, Dolores Huerta Students!
