Mother talking to baby People often ask me whether or not it is okay to speak to their child in more than one language, or  if it is best to expressly use one language. I explain to them that mixing languages is perfectly acceptable, in fact, in Europe and Asia, many different languages are spoken in the home and community by parents, neighbors, teachers, etc. The bottom line is that as long as children are routinely exposed to the language(s), they will learn with no problem. I found a great article to explain this very clearly.
