Studies show that children who are bilingual or multilingual perform better in other academic areas and adjust to new situations more easily later in life. These children statistically earn higher scores in SATs (both math and verbal), show significant gains in IQ performance, and exhibit advanced mental flexibility and superiority in concept formation compared to their monolingual counterparts. Children experience enhanced cognitive development as well as sociocultural benefits.
Research proves that children have a greater advantage over others if they learn a foreign language at the same time they are learning their primary language – the second language will be simultaneously stored neatly and subconsciously in the same area of the brain. Children are not confused by learning additional languages, despite the propensity for this in adults –their brains create separate and unique neural pathways for each language. With frequent, repetitive exposure any child will be able to speak with familiarity and no accent.
Why no accent with Early Lingo? A learning window begins to close at 6 years of age, and by the time a child reaches his twelfth year he may no longer be able to speak without an accent. A famous example of this phenomenon is the case of Henry Kissinger. When he arrived in the United States as a boy, Henry was 12 years old and his younger brother was 10. Henry has retained a strong accent whereas his brother has none at all. Starting a linguistic program early is the key – Early Lingo!
The Early Lingo Series is organized into 12 familiar everyday activities.
Each DVD is a mini-adventure using relative words and expressions that engage the child.
Children can watch anytime, anywhere without the need for adult interaction or supervision, however, we encourage the parent or caregiver to participate alongside the child.
With Early Lingo’s use of the Total Immersion Method, the child is immersed immediately into the target language with no use of translation – proven to be the most effective and natural method of learning a new language. Your toddler will be mesmerized by entertaining characters and content as they learn!
The Early Lingo DVD Series is the first of its kind, offering 12 animated and live-action videos to teach your child the basic foundation of a foreign language. The Series is organized into 12 interactive programs using a playful approach to learning with stimulating visual content of everyday activities featuring animated characters Jojo and Lulu.
Music
Upbeat jingles are used as a tool to keep the energy level up and maintain pace without distracting the child.
Colors
Bright, vivid colors are utilized to engage and help distinguish objects as the child’s vision is still developing.
Live Footage
Footage of real-life, everyday objects and environments have been proven to be more effective in teaching than animation alone.
Animation
Early Lingo effectively uses animation as a tool to engage the imagination, not as a primary form of tutoring. Colorful graphics and playful characters engage the attention of the child and break up the lesson.
Action & Word Specific
Each object and action is clearly identified by the voice over. Concepts are specific and repeated in multiple scenes to avoid confusion.
Repetition
Repetition plays a vital role in a young child’s learning process. Early Lingo uses repetition in different scenarios to keep lessons interesting and entertaining.
Authentic Native Speakers
Clear and articulate voices native to the language capture the attention of the child – the key to learning without an accent!
Age Appropriate
Early Lingo pinpoints the 0-5 age range. Many learning programs have too broad of a span (2-12) and are not as effective for foundational learners.
