Dogs are capable of understanding any language in the world. They don’t actually respond to your words, but to your sounds and intonations. It’s a great party trick to be able to command your dog to sit in French or to ask for a paw in Italian. They can even learn sign language. Just make sure that whatever language your dog understands is the same one that his caretaker knows as well!
My Chesapeake Bay Retriever understood English and Italian and even starred in a few Early Lingo DVDs. This is a tribute to her as she sadly passed away this week. Thank you for 11 wonderful years, beautiful girl. Non ti dimenticheró mai.
